Creative Paths: Memory Braiding
Creative Paths, a partnership program between Portland Trails and TEMPOart, explores the connections between our creative selves and the natural world.
What if your memories could take a physical form? Inspired by their work of collecting and holding memory through weaving, artist verónica a. pèrez will lead a workshop where you’ll create braided memory nets, each string a memory braided together.
Participants will take a short walk with verónica to hear about their TEMPOart installation in Fort Allen Park before the workshop begins. All materials will be provided.
verónica a. pèrez (they/them) is a sculptor whose work is deeply rooted in the community and explores themes of erasure, repair, identity, and interdependency. As part of this work, they hold braiding circle workshops where participants engage in intentional conversations about identity while braiding textiles.
Creative Paths is supported in part by Maine Community Bank.
